New stunts, returning favorites help expand 2013 Lake of the Ozarks Air Show
Annual event slated to return to Camdenton Sept. 21
The 2013 Lake of the Ozarks Air Show will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21 and will host a variety of activities including a salute to our military and the return of the veteran flights, Team Vortex Air Shows, the Ping Pong Ball Drop, KC Flight Formation Team along with a P-51 Gunfighter, Chevy Flash Fire Truck and so much more.
According to Camdenton Chamber executive director Trish Creach, a crowd favorite returning is the veteran flights aboard the TBM-3E Avenger, with selected WWII and Korean veterans offered free rides and others offered the same exhilarating experience for fee.
Another returning act is KC Flight, a RV Formation Team, which is one of Missouri’s largest homegrown civilian formation team, Creach said. In addition to the Lake of the Ozarks Air Show, visitors can experience KC Flight during the pregame show at area football games including the Camdenton High School game on Friday, Sept. 20, Creach said.
Back by popular demand is the team act of Brian Correll and Patrick Carter, also known as Team Vortex, and a new act to the 2013 Lake of the Ozarks Air Show will be the P-51 Mustang Gunfighter. The Gunfighter is a "D" model, serial number 44-73264, which was the most produced P-51 model during the War with more than 8,000 built. Today, about 140 Mustangs exist worldwide, in museums, flying or under restoration, Creach said.
In addition to the acts in the air there will be a number of activities going on at ground level which include the Chevy Flash Fire Truck, Ping Pong Ball Drop for the kids, aviation displays, kids activities, food concessions, vendor and sponsorship booths. The event is free to attend however $5 parking charge will apply at the airport but free shuttles will be provided from a remote shuttle location at the Camdenton School District parking lots.
