Ameren says it has seen a rise in the number of scammers posing as representatives.

They will usually call or email, or show up in person asking for payment or personal information.

"If you suspect something isn't right, trust your gut and do not comply," says Terry Roberds, 

Director of Corporate Security at Ameren.
